MARRIAGE AFFIDAVITS GROOM INDEX

This index is abstracted from the original marriage license applications and is dated from September of 1889 through December of 2002.  It contains nearly 13,000 records.  There are some missing records.

These are not actual marriage licenses; they are the applications to obtain a marriage license.  We can obtain copies of original marriage licenses for our patrons at the courthouse across the street.

Generally the records contain the names and ages of the groom and bride as well as the application date.  (The application date may differ from the actual marriage date.)  Other information can include place of residence, names of parents, maiden name of bride (if bride has been previously married), and (in much later years) birthdates.  When either the groom or bride has not reached the age of majority, consent of one or both parents may be included with the document.

Cost for search of the document, copying and postage is $5.00 for each document copied and sent, whether by postal or e-mail.   Please include the name of groom and/or bride and date with your request.
